Alex Sepkus

New York, New York

A master of design and a true original in today’s world, Alex Sepkus is a craftsman whose priority is beauty, whose insight and passion for his work are his driving forces in life and whose abilities lie within his hands.

A native of Vilnius, Alex recieved his graduate degree in industrial design from Lithuanian Academy of Arts.  His studies included interiors, glass making, sculpture, etchings, and graphics with his graduate work in jewelry design.  With a strong understanding and respect for precision and balance, Alex developed a great passion for the intricacies of his craft, creating a world that is truely enhanced under a microscope.

Alex immigrated to the United States in 1988.  Within a few years, he met Jeff Feero, and together formed Alex Sepkus, Inc.  Quickly garning the attention and respect of his peer, Alex earned the Jewelers of America New Designer of the Year Award withing his first 5 years.  Gaining national and international recognition, Alex’s designs are ceveted masterpieces and are showcased in over 100 of the finest specialty stores across the country.

Each piece of Alex Sepkus jewelry is hand crafted in his NYC shop. Eighteen jewelers bring Alex’s designs to life, and many have worked with Alex for over 15 years.

Every piece is created under a mircoscope: from hand hammering, chasing, engraving, stone setting and final finishing- no small detail is compromised.  There are over 300 designs and Alex is sole innovator.

Alex rarely sketches on paper.  He prefers to carve directly into the material.  From the original carvings to the finished design, the entire first piece of each design is made by Alex.  Once he feels the design is ready, he trains the team on the specific techniques used to fabricate the piece: only then is it ready to be put into production.

The personal design philosophy of Alex Sepkus is, “nobody needs jewelry.”  It is meant to be fun, not serious, and worn everyday.

Alex is more that a designer of jewelry.  He has created his own category of jewelry.  He is not derivative and does not follow trends.  He simply wants to create beautiful things.
